Conservatories FAQs

Do I Need Planning Permission to Install a Conservatory?
You most likely will not need planning permission to install a conservatory unless you are planning on building it on the front of your house or if the side of your house that you want to build it on is directly facing a highway.
The only other time you may need planning permission is if the conservatory is likely to take up more than half the area of the original house. You may, however, still need to apply for building regulations approval.
What is the Difference Between a Conservatory and a Livin Room?
Conservatories typically feature both glass walls and a glass roof for the utmost sun exposure whereas a Livin Room combines the light and sky of a conservatory with the walls and ceiling of an extension.
Are Conservatories Secure?
A well designed, well installed conservatory should be as secure as any access point in your house and we here at Wilmslow Glass promise the utmost is safety and security from all of our products.
Do Conservatories Trap Heat?
Yes, conservatories are designed to trap heat during the summer. Like a greenhouse, conservatories absorb warmth from the sunlight whilst providing shelter from cool winds and rain. If you’re looking for a slightly cooler option during the summer months, then you may want to consider a Livin Room instead.
